Mit grew up on his father's fishing boat, and by the time most kids were learning summer jobs, he was already learning the rhythm of the water. At seven he was salmon tendering in Puget Sound. By twelve he was longlining for halibut in Southeast Alaska alongside his dad.
Through high school and college, fishing shaped nearly every season of his life. He worked salmon, halibut, black cod, and Pacific cod across the Bering Sea, Bristol Bay, the Aleutians, and beyond. He even sold fresh salmon from a red wagon at the Bainbridge Island Farmers Market. For Mit, fishing was never just work. It was how life was built.
In 2012, he turned that experience into a career in wholesale seafood brokerage at his family's company, Tatoosh Seafoods. When his father retired in 2020, Mit stepped in to carry the business forward. In 2023, his wife and partner, Olen, joined him, helping shape the next chapter together.
That chapter became Mit's Fish Co., a pop-up seafood truck focused on premium, wild-caught seafood from Alaska and the North Pacific at wholesale prices. By working directly with independent fishermen, we help support the people on the water while bringing high-quality, flash-frozen seafood straight to our community.
At its core, Mit's Fish Co. is about connection: to the fishermen, to the ocean, to our community, and to the food on your plate.
